 The Government has consistently been proactive for the cause of the farmers and development of agriculture in the State as agriculture remains a prime mover of the socio-economic well-being of a majority of the population in the State. More than 60% of work force depending on agriculture for their livelihood and most of them are small and marginal farmers who are always in financial hardship to take up their cultivation work.

Besides, a major group of landless agricultural households, who are dependent on wages by engaging themselves on agricultural activities as their main occupation. To subsistence these difficulties of the farming community of the State, Government have implemented a farmers’ welfare scheme named as CM KISAN from the State Plan funding.

Under this component, Support is being provided for cultivation to the small & marginal farmers @ Rs. 2000/- per crop season totaling to Rs. 4000/- per annum for purchase of different agriculture inputs like Seeds, Fertilizer, Pesticides as well as to meet the expenditure towards labour charges and other investments in the field operations based on the farmers choice.

The landless households will have the option of selecting any one of the livelihood units as per their choice.Under Livelihood support for landless agricultural households, financial assistance of Rs. 12500/- is provided in three tranches for enhancing their income and overall wellbeing.
